Emergency network is a network which can be deployed in an emergency situation like natural disaster recovery operation. Natural disaster like Tsunami not only takes hundreds of thousands of lives but also make wounded hundreds of thousands more. It destructs the surrounding in a massive scale and the traditional communication systems like the fixed or mobile telephone or local internet access becomes completely inoperable. In such a situation it is not only time consuming but very hard to deploy the conventional communication network which the emergency rescue worker can use to help the victims. So a fast-deploying reliable multimedia communication systems with a wide range of coverage is developed under the project “Digital Ubiquitous Mobile Broadband OLSR  phase-2 (DUMBO 2)”  by IntERLab and its partners by which the emergency rescue worker can communicate among themselves as well as with the central command headquarter, deployed anywhere in the internet.

In the above figure the abstract network model of Dumbo2 is shown. Mobile nodes and routers are placed on small boats moving on the sea, moving vehicle like motor bikes, tuk-tuk and cars on the shore forming Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) MANET. Fixed network access points placed within the proximity of the V2V network are the point of attachment to the normal internet. The command center or headquarter is established at anywhere in internet. Multimedia communication for the field worker is provided among themselves using V2V network or with headquarter using V2I network.
